Hobbs, Brockunier & Co., POLKA DOT

Hobbs, Brockunier & Co., POLKA DOT
Description : This is the Hobbs, Brockunier & Co., POLKA DOT pattern, introduced April 1884. It is illustrated in the Hobbs book by Bredehoft & Bredehoft, pg. 69. The bowl is 8" in diameter. Due to the speed at which glass is made, this piece actually varies in height by 1/4" from highest rim measurement to lowest measurement. Only damage is a couple of small flakes on the red on the top rim. It is the only one I have ever seen in this shape/color combo. The inset photos show the catalog illustration (properly credited in fine print underneath) and a blacklight UV photo.

"rubina verde" by Hobbs is not an easy color to come by! I have about a dozen pieces with the red fading to yellow, but only two pieces of true RUBINA VERDE by Hobbs. My big lamp shade is the other one.
