Overshot Vaseline Glass

OVERSHOT RUBINA VERDE berry bowl, Possibly Harrach

OVERSHOT RUBINA VERDE berry bowl, Possibly Harrach
Description : I showed this photo to Brian Severn, and he believed that it was possibly made by Harrach. This is an berry bowl made with the OVERSHOT process (rolling the glass in glass chips/frit, prior to blowing out the shape). Most overshot glass that involves vaseline glass in the design is a vase that is red, fading to clear at the bottom, then added ornaments in vaseline glass (flower petals, or a pinched vine that spirals around the outer surface). Seldom do you ever see the main glass as vaseline glass. The red is very much a dark ruby. Made the way all Rubina Verde glass is made.

This is a composite photo, showing various views. To get that cool reflection (that sort of makes this dish look like a clam shell), use a piece of highly polished black marble floor tile (about $10 at your local flooring store) as your surface!
